Taking on a new attitude this 2017

Sorry guys, it took me a while to get back to blogging. These days, I’m a bit under the weather. It’s disappointing to greet the New Year with clogged nose and fever. Then when I got back to work, it seems my workmates were also bogged down with flu… Everyone seems to be either sneezing or coughing. The weather is a bit unusually cold for us here who are used to living in the tropics. Ohhh.. but thank God I’m alright now.

But lemme tell you I did enjoy celebrating New Year even though it was just me and my mom. Our NY’s menu was nothing like what we did before. I made some creamy mashed potato to go with our roasted T-bone steak! Yum… partnered with a garden salad. Healthy! Then opened a bottle of Pink Moscato wine gifted to me. Love it!

Though sick, it didn’t stop me from taking the time to get down to the basics–the very thing I do every time all the noise and the fireworks during NYs have gone down: fasting. It’s time to once again, set my personal faith goals.

So I spent the second week of January 2017 fasting. I got a lot on my mind and one of this is my faith in the Lord that he would make all things new! It’s a bit difficult for me right now to tell you about it, but one day I’m very sure I’ll be able to reveal it right here in my blog.

You know, honestly there comes a point in my Christian walk when I feel like, I want to give up and just go with the flow. I was about to put off listing my faith goals and just allow that “let go and let God” attitude takeover. But whenever I hear our pastor and my victory group leader encourage us to write them down, I feel the need to follow. And so I did, and prayed over these faith goals of mine. I knew there’s nothing else I could do…

Proverbs 16:9 says “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” (Prov. 16:9, NIV)  Sometimes I feel confused and discouraged by this verse. I seem to think that whenever I plan out something, I need to put that proposal on hold and think would this be okay with the Lord? Is it enough, is it too much? Or did I ask for too little? I’d raise both my hands up in exasperation. Because I keep on thinking which of these (faith) plans I listed would the Lord say yes to, or no? I don’t know, I’m just asking. But right there and there, I end up “passing the paper” and submitting it to my Teacher.  It was then and only then do I feel the Holy Spirit nagging me to just say yes to God, and no to myself.  It’s all I need to do to realize its during THE planning stage that God starts working his plan for me…for us who believe.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8) This gives the PUSH! (Pray until something happens). Armed with the knowledge of God’s promises  this should embolden us to pursue his cause and to continue to plan.

And so, as the month of January ends, I’m looking forward to more exciting times on February 2017 onwards. More blessings and more opportunities. I may not see what lies ahead but I’m confident that the One who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it. 😀

  1. Good to have you back. Please do not be discouraged ! Paul says : ” Look at me I am sinner of All. If the one need to be given up is me ” But He said in Continue in another place, I would not give up , it is better for me to stay ” . We are living in the world but we are NOT of the world. I know having Faith in these days is like walking on Fire. But the who called you is with you and have never forsake you. ” I AM ” He said.

    Thanks for the word.
Just keep blogging . Keep believing.
